During your initial visit to Orthopaedic, Pediatric & Spine Institute you will be seen by our staff who will ask you about your medical history and your symptoms. A focused orthopedic and neurological examination will then be made by your doctor. While many patients want to discuss the exact event which may have your health care team needs involves your symptoms, such as where you have pain, weakness, numbness, and what limitations these symptoms place on your everyday activities. Please take the time to write down this information prior to your visit, as well as concentrate during the time of your visit on the most specific signs and symptoms of your injury which are affecting your day-to-day lifestyle. After thoroughly reviewing your medical history and completing a though evaluation and diagnostic testing, you will be presented with a number of treatment options. We will inform you of the risks and benefits of each option and will assist you in making the final decision concerning which option is best for you.

Health Care Plans Accepted
All major insurances are accepted with verification of your plan and benefits, by our staff, prior to your appointment. Not all insurance books are up to date, call and we can verify our participation in your plan.

 
Pre-Surgery Preparation
  • Nothing to eat or drink from 8 hours prior to the surgery time
  • Check with the anesthesiologist concerning medications to be taken on the AM of your surgery and only with a sip of water
  • Arrange a ride for the return home if you are an outpatient
  • Notify your Family Physician of the surgery date
 
Post-Op Information
  • Review your post-operative instruction sheets and follow these orders without exception
  • Fill all prescriptions given upon discharge and take them as prescribed
  • Call as indicated on your discharge sheet for a follow-up appointment within 24hours of discharge either from outpatient surgery or from the Hospital
  • If problems, call your physician immediately
  • Remember to call to renew your narcotic prescriptions during business hours of the Crown Point Office.
  • No narcotics are renewed at night and from noon Friday till 9:00am Monday so plan ahead and let us know your requests and needs
 
After Hours Process
After hours, physician’s are available through our answering services and can be reached at any time. Complete twenty-fours hours a day coverage is provided for all your orthopaedic needs.
